Open Question: Communist owned newspaper weeks behind?

I am visiting South China right now. I picked up the "South China Post" to read at breakfast. All the news is weeks if not months behind. I read almost the same things weeks ago back in Scottsdale, Arizona. I am considering taking a job in Singapore (Yes, I know it is a very different country from China).
